Let’s get the band back together… a list

It feels like reunion time in music. Sometimes for love, sometimes for money. But so goes life. The Police, Stone Temple Pilots, Genesis, Rage Against The Machine, The Pixies (some time ago, but it still feels close… maybe also due to that Breeders reunion… and Black Francis is opening up for STP!), Motley Crue and Poison to name a few. But who REALLY should get back together? Here’s a list:

7. Michael Jackson (get back together with his ‘ol self)

6. The Stone Roses

5. Soundgarden

4. The Smiths

3. Guns ‘n Roses

2. Pink Floyd

1. Led Zeppelin

Thoughts? Who’s not on the list and which reunions would be just eh?

I have to think about this but in the meantime your post made me think of a great novel I just read…How Soon Is Never? by Marc Spitz. It’s about a thirty-something rock journalist who tries to redeem his troubled life and give it meaning by getting the Smiths to reunite! I won’t say whether he’s successful or not but I loved this book, it brought me back the same way reading the Jamsbios memories does.

I’d like to see Squeeze back together with Paul Carrack in the lineup, and it’s not really a Band reunion, but it would be nice to see Levon Helm and Robbie Robertson bury the hatchet and make some music with Garth Hudson.
