Tokio Hotel… The kids are alright.

In a time when sugary-sweet pop confection is back in the form of Hannah Montana / Miley Cyrus and the Jonas Brothers playing to sold-out big concert venues, actual record sales and tie-ins such as 3D movies, here comes a band from a bit leftfield. Hailing from Magdeburg, Germany… a quartet weighing in at probably 300 lbs, in the red & blue shorts and hair like you’ve never quite seen… Tokio Hotel!

All four were born in the late 80’s and named after the German word for Tokyo, (their favorite city and the literal fact that they sleep in many hotels) Tokio Hotel has sold 3 million albums across Europe and is about to take America by storm… or, er, Scream, the name of their first English album.

What makes Tokio Hotel interesting, other than the enormous hair of Bill Kaulitz, their lead singer, is the use of a big guitar sound in their music. These kids aren’t afraid to rock, even with their inverted Hasselhoff Germany to US status.

Their album appears in shops and online tomorrow. Hide your daughters when they come to town… but then again, you may want to go and listen to the latest in German guitar pop.
